Job Fair Preparation

Wondering how to make the most of a job fair?  Here are some suggestions from employers and students who have attended WestPACS

Suggestions from EMPLOYERS
1. Do research before the fair.  [Note: this was the most frequently mentioned tip]
2. Don't ask who the company is, what they do, and what they can offer you. Sell yourself - it is about what you can do for the company.
3. Smile, set realistic career goals and recognize the challenges in the industry.
4. Have clear career goals and some understanding about the nature of the job you are seeking.
5. Dress professionally and be very flexible to entry level openings.
6. Have a clear understanding of your personal character and personality being projected.

Suggestions from CANDIDATES
1. Be prepared, confident, research companies, smile, know what you want.
2. Bring lots of resumes and be prepared to talk.
3. Come as early as possible and wear comfortable shoes.
4. Have enough room in your portfolio or briefcase for brochures. Take quick notes to spur your memory.
5. Prepare general info and skills you want to relay to recruiters, be energetic and have a positive, open-minded attitude.
6. See what companies signed up to be present, do a little background check on them, have general questions ready.
